The Aims Community College Public Safety Program is seeking part-time faculty to teach classes that are part of the Public Safety, Bachelor of Applied Science Degree Program. The Public Safety BAS program is a new program and we need individuals that can commit to teaching online public safety classes in a lead instructor role. The Aims CC Public Safety Institute is known for our commitment to high standards and innovative learning.
Job Duties
Teaching: Interacting with students to provide opportunities to learn, creating conditions that facilitate learning, and using techniques and methods that create a high probability that learning will occur. To achieve such interaction, a teacher must possess these basic abilities:
Instructional Delivery: Those human interactive skills and characteristics that make for clear communication of information, and promote learning through an effective learning environment.
1. Provide effective and high-quality instruction of subject being taught.
2. Apply learning-centered educational practices such as creating and communicating clearly-defined outcomes for student learning.
3. Provide a diverse array of learning activities that directly tie to those defined outcomes.
4. Use assessment data to improve instruction and learning, and participate in an ongoing College-Wide dialogue about teaching and learning.
5. Develop and refine department curriculum as necessary to maintain currency in pedagogy and content.
Instructional Design Skills: Includes technical skills in designing, sequencing, and presenting experiences which promote student learning, and designing, developing, and implementing tools and procedures and procedures for assessing student-learning.
1. Use and develop appropriate computer-based technologies, including online instruction to promote student learning.
2. Design, develop and implement tools and procedures for assessing student-learning outcomes.
3. Adopt new teaching methodologies as appropriate. Collaborate in the development and implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of learning for students.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United states on a part/full-time basis.
1. Master's degree in a Public Safety related field from an accredited college or university. Related degrees will include, but are not limited to Criminal Justice, Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, Organizational Management, and Leadership or an equivalent of education and/or work experience.
2. Minimum of four (4) years' experience in Public Safety or related field.
3. Have completed a course in teaching adults (e.g. Train the Trainer) or have documented experience in teaching adults.

Minimum Payment Amount:
C – Lecture – $1,194.00 per credit
D – Recitation: Discussion/Seminar – $1,194.00 per credit
E – Laboratory/Career and Technical – $1,302.00 per credit
F1 – Laboratory: Academic – $1,437.00 per credit
F2 – Laboratory: Academic – $1,628.00 per credit
G – Physical Education/Recreation Courses – $1,437.00 per credit
H – Studio: Art – $1,437.00 per credit
J – Studio: Music – $1,528.00 per credit
L2 – Clinical or Internship Instructor On-Site – $1,437.00 per credit
L3 – Clinical or Internship Rad Tech – $2,802.00 per credit
L4 – Clinical or Internship Nursing - $2,928.00 - $3,252.00 per credit based on employee’s highest applicable degree
M2 – Clinical or Internship Instructor On-Site - $1,437.00 per credit
M3 – Clinical or Internship Nursing and/or Nurse Aide (Health/Nurse Aide) - $1,952.00 - $2,168.00 per credit, based on employee’s highest applicable degree
In certain instances, due to low enrollment, instructors payment will be based on part-time per credit pay and pro-rated on a 10% per student basis.
Employees in these positions may be asked to participate in temporary assignments lasting less than 6 months (such as curriculum development, short term projects, meetings and substitute duties) which could amount to additional temporary pay.
