Job description
- Traditional: A bachelor's degree with a major or major equivalent (as accepted by ESPB) in Family and Consumer Sciences Education (Home Economics Education) from an approved institution.
OR - Provisional certification to teach in a CTE funded program may be granted when the instructor is enrolled in a CTE approved alternative teacher preparation program. Such provisional certification may be renewed annually provided the instructor is continuing to work toward full licensure. Provisional licensing options are available in Occupational, Praxis Testing Option, or Alternate Licensing.
An instructor shall earn a minimum of six (6) credits for renewal of the regular (5 year) CTE credential. - Valid Teaching Certificate in Career and Technical Education

- Strong communication skills to facilitate connection and sharing of thoughts and ideas in multiple formats with diverse audiences
- Ability to reason, interpret, and analyze information to generate new knowledge and understanding
- Adept at problem-solving, resilient when faced with challenges, and skilled in planning and organization
- Experience working in a high school setting preferred
- Prior teaching experience preferred

FAMILY & CONSUMER SCIENCES (FACS) TEACHER - WEST FARGO HIGH SCHOOL & HORACE HIGH SCHOOL
POSITION: Family & Consumer Sciences (FACS) Teacher - West Fargo High School & Horace High School
TERM: 188-day contract beginning with the 2023-2024 School Year
SUMMARY: The FACS teacher creates an engaging, nurturing, and safe learning environment that allows students to develop their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing; providing instruction in FACS, future ready skills, knowledge, and dispositions to be compassionate, lifelong-learners, and contributing citizens in a rapidly changing world.
The Family and Consumer Sciences teacher provides students with academic skills and practical hands-on experiences in Career Clusters related to Human Services, Hospitality, Visual Arts, and Education. The Program of Study includes classroom and lab instruction related to independent living, family living, health, early childhood education, child development, nutrition, food sciences, clothing, and housing visual arts, culinary, and teacher training. Course content may lead to marketable job skills or post-secondary training in a related career field. The teacher will work together with current FACS teachers, in respective buildings, to implement established course curriculums aligned to ND CTE Standards, district goals, and course experiences.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and education, the starting salary for this position would be following the 2023-2024 Teacher Salary Schedule. (Refer to 2022-2023 Teacher Salary Schedule until new schedule is available.)
