Family Coordinator (Family & Community Engagement Services)
Job description
The Family Coordinator with Macedonia Family and Community Enrichment Center is an exciting opportunity to join an organization committed to living out its mission by supporting families in the community. This is an ideal role for the candidate who would thrive as the initial contact with students and families to engage them for participation in appropriate agency services.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate outreach, training, and prevention/education services among partner agencies (ex. Pittsburgh Public Schools, Family Capacity Partners, etc.).
- Collaborate with families, service providers, contracted facilitators, volunteers, administrators, and community stakeholders.
- Provide linkage to resources for families with a focus on reaching self-sufficiency while utilizing the agency’s service delivery model and a strength-based approach to engage families.
- Conduct home visits with families in Allegheny County, schedule and facilitate family/school conferences, and guide the family to a complete a family plan.
- Deliver youth prevention services including Family Capacity, Girls/Boys Council and Teen Connect.
- Coordinate the recruitment of workshop participants and facilitators for all prevention programs.
- Facilitate a wide range of educational and prevention workshops geared towards positive youth behaviors.
- Attend community meetings with partner agencies who work in the fields of truancy, HIV/AIDS, and bullying prevention in the schools; along with healthy self-esteem.
- Develop prevention programming goals and ensure that goals are met.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in social science, education or related field, required
- 2-3 years’ case management experience, along with working with children and families
- Basic working knowledge of the Pittsburgh Public school system, and the Pittsburgh Promise Program
- Proficient in conferencing and teaming; or willingness to obtain proficiency within first six months
- Experience and thorough knowledge of methods and procedures used in determining eligibility for social services.
- Life/work experience must demonstrate commitment to children, families, and teen services
- Experience training and facilitating workshops preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills and respect for family traditions, cultural and racial diversity is essential
- Ability to work well with people of diverse social, cultural and economic backgrounds
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, along with detail-orientation
- Act 33, 34 and FBI clearances needed
- Valid PA driver’s license, clean driving record, insurance and registration required
SALARY: $43,700 candidate with Bachelor’s Degree; $45,700 candidate with Master’s Degree
