Sonas Nursing Home have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller to join the team in Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland.

Role Summary: Coordinate and ensure the smooth running of the Finance Department in the Sonas Support Office. Produce monthly management accounts for all business units. Liaise with the Finance Director on various financial matters relating to the Company.
Reports to: Finance Director.
Duties & Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and detailed variance reporting against budgets.
- Monthly review of financial reports and results with management, provide feedback and address any issues that arise.
Financial Control
- Cost control, including the fostering of a cost awareness within the Company and monitoring of overhead expenditure
- Maintain the fixed asset register and prepare monthly depreciation journals for all business units
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet and inter-company balances reconciliations
- Supervise payroll and related matters for over 700 employees
- Analysis of labour ratios; highlighting/generating reports for individual departments within each unit and addressing significant variance from budgeted levels
- Assist and prepare annual budgets in collaboration with management teams and Financial Director
- Maintenance and upgrade internal controls and processes.
Financial Management
- Management of working capital with regards to debt collection and payment of creditors.
- Prepare monthly cash-flow forecasts for all business units and analysis of company bank accounts.
Compliance
- Revenue Returns and CSO returns
- Prepare all books and files for annual audit with supporting working
- Investigate any grants or relief available to the Company.
Management
- Manage day-to-day Finance operations and work closely with the Finance team ensuring that standards are maintained in line with all policies and procedures.
- Drive processes that allow for efficiency and effectiveness within the Finance Department by evaluating existing processes and refining current processes
- To deputise for the Finance Director in all elements of the Finance function.
Education & Qualifications:
Skills and Experience:
Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA)
- Proficient use of computerised accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Strong accounting preparation experience
- Excellent analytical skills
- Previous industry experience working in a Finance function
- Motivated team member that can lead the Finance team
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and external stakeholders
