My client, a manufacturing SME based in Oranmore Co Galway is currently hiring an experienced Financial Controller who is looking to grow into a CFO within the company. The company is an established business with anestablished market position in Ireland and is currently embarking on an ambitious growth strategy.

The Role

Responsible for leading and managing total accountancy function, including purchasing/ payables, debtors, inventory management, payroll, treasury, cashflow and asset management, all financial planning and analysis, analysis, budget preparation and publication and accounting control related activities. Additional responsibility for I.T. function, managing existing systems and leading appropriate upgrades as business requires. Responsible for leading, developing and building a strong work ethic with the finance team of 4 direct reports.

As a member of the senior team, the F.C. will assist in determining the future direction of the business in guiding and building strategic plans for the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the day-to-day function of the finance department
  • Product cost analysis by cost center and ensuring target budgetary margins are being met
  • Liaising with sales team on price and margin management as well as providing financial support on new product introductions
  • Management of inventory, control of waste and elimination of write down
  • Preparation of end of month accounts, Board of Director reports with financial analysis of business performance and critique
  • Annualised budget preparation by cost centre, P&L and Balance Sheet
  • Integrated cash flow modelling
  • Monthly cash flow statements with forecast projections
  • FX management with annualized and quarterly strategies to minimize exposure
  • Audit preparation & management, ensuring financial compliance to statutory requirements
  • Management of internal and external stakeholders providing reporting requirements, Information Memorandums and other as required
  • Asset and balance sheet management
  • Review of existing I.T. systems, use of same with preparation of business case for upgrades by function by business requirements
  • Lead, develop and build a strong finance team with a focus on performance and value
  • Proactively assist in strategic direction of the business, identifying new business opportunities and preparation of business case for same
  • Work closely with other team members in ensuring costs are managed within budget and assist in developing action plans to address cost variance or external environmental challenges

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and/or qualified accountant
  • Seven years’ experience in accounting, financial planning / analysis in manufacturing and strategic finance with the capacity to step up or into senior management
  • Three years min at a management level
  • Capable of deep strategic thinking with very strong quantitative and qualitative analytical abilities and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Must be highly organised, have a natural drive for results, be able to work on multiple projects / analysis at the same time that vary widely in scope, size, and type
  • Experience in supporting and regular interaction with senior level company executives.
  • Excellent skills in verbal, written, and presentation communications skills
  • Ability to manage team members and drive accountability and results.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all employees and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to completely maintain confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency. Strong spreadsheet skills (MS Office applications) required. Must be able to quickly and accurately manipulate large amounts of data.

This is a permanent role based in Oranmore, Co. Galway. Reporting to C.E.O.
