Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Job Functions
The Functional Specialist for University Scheduling and Events will report to the Associate Director and will be responsible for supporting the centralized scheduling process for non-academic events, various programs and resources, and day-to-day operations for CollegeNet-25Live scheduling software. This position serves as a liaison for both the university and the community to ensure the orderly coordination of scheduling and campus events.

The Functional Specialist plays an essential role in creating first impressions for a wide variety of constituents:
  • Support CollegeNet 25Live functions and schedule events, facilities, and space for Appalachian State University campuses.
  • Strong attention to detail, computer skills, time management, and confidentiality are critical.
  • Occasional work outside normal business hours is required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Minimum of three years of full-time professional experience in higher education administration, scheduling, and/or event planning
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office and Google environment
  • Ability to travel and work non-standard hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Integrity, discretion, and a strong work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
  • General knowledge of Appalachian State University
  • Time management and ability to move between tasks and balance priorities in a dynamic environment
  • An affinity for collaborating with people of all skill sets, ages, backgrounds and cultures

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with scheduling software and website management programs.
  • Special event or conference experience in higher education.

The range of physical demands for this position is broad. The position requires desk work and also time on the feet to assist at events. Ability to coordinate staff development and training/education programs including core training, specialized one-time training events, continuing education, and related programs.

Information Analysis/Decision Making: Ability to analyze business operations and/or financial statements for overall program administration. Ability to develop initiatives to meet program/project needs and objectives. Ability to assess and resolve unprecedented problems that require research and review of policy and procedures for the program or assigned components. Ability to resolves problems or compliance issues, based on delegated authority.

Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
