General Repairs Technician (FT)
Job description
- Painting within the student centers but not limited to offices, restrooms, common areas, and meeting spaces
- Replacement of light bulbs that are out, and noting when additional work (ex: ballasts) is needed
- Minor repairs from work orders that come in such as but not limited to missing/loose screws, loose carpet tiles, water filter replacement, etc.
- Assist with furniture condition checks for lifecycle and complete repairs as needed.
- Scheduling and coordinating work to be done to minimize impact while also achieving high customer satisfaction.
- Follow appropriate safety and environmental procedures in the course of job duties including disposal of items (lights, paint, etc) in line with sustainability goals.
- Other duties as assigned

- High School Diploma or equivalency; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Department Required Skills
- Previous experience with painting including knowledge and skills with techniques, materials, and surfaces.
- Previous experience with general maintenance and repairs.
- Commitment to sustainability and waste diversion efforts (recycling, reuse, etc).
- Previous customer service experience.
- A high degree of communication and coordination.
- Comfortable with being flexible and adaptable to routines and schedules.
- Ability to be self-paced and direct own work.
- Ability to read and understand directions, floor plans, material safety data sheets, and procedures.
- Ability to climb ladders, and able to lift 30 pounds above the head and up to 60 pounds on rare occasions, with or without reasonable accommodation. Requires bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing.
Preferred Years of Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- 2 years of similar work experience, painting required.
- Proficient in the use of computers, use email, and have the ability to learn new software programs.
