Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Teach in an innovative and inspiriting adult/gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP) program particularly in Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics course and Acute Care of Adults Seminars I and II courses in the graduate certificate and doctoral program in nursing.
- Teach courses in other graduate nursing core courses and commensurate with department needs.
- Maintain national certification as an Adult-Gerontology or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and licensure as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the State of Minnesota.
- Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.
- Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
- Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
- Contribute to student growth and development including student advising and chairing or serving on master’s thesis, scholarly inquiry paper or Doctor or Nursing Practice Project Committees.
- Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community. Support Winona State University’s mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
- Maintain immunizations and background study clearance and other requirements of the department and college.
- Work effectively with health care industry and community affiliates on graduate nursing education, research and practice issues.
- Assist with Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accreditation processes, program development and growth, program assessment and curriculum design and delivery.
- Practice effectively through collaboration with other professionals in the health care industry and community.
- Commit to fostering cultural intelligence, inclusive excellence, and global involvement through authentic and professional relationships.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and Nationally certified as an adult or adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner through a nationally accredited program.
- Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration, or eligible for licensure, in Minnesota and Wisconsin and licensed as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), or eligible for APRN licensure by the start date of the appointment, in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
- Satisfactory background study clearance as required by Minnesota statues.
- Evidence of experience as an adult acute care nurse practitioner or an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner.
- Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills including verbal, nonverbal and written methods.
- Evidence of teaching in the academic, practice or community setting.
- Eligible for health care provider CPR certification, and up to date immunizations, including influenza, and other verifications required for the department or those required by clinical agencies.

- Earned doctorate in nursing or related field. Doctorate is required for tenure.
- Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated proficiency in design and delivery of teaching technologies (e.g. Web-based learning platforms, synchronous Internet meeting programs, email, database management, data storage, distance learning).
- Demonstrated experience employing, assessing, and/or developing various innovative research-informed clinical practices.
- Demonstrated evidence of effective graduate teaching skills.
- Demonstrated experience teaching with simulation modalities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and engage well with diverse students, faculty, administrators and community partners.
- Demonstrated ability to have strong, positive relationships with practice communities.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in subject areas such as AGACNP role courses and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated experience with a CCNE accredited program.
- Demonstrated experience in advising and supervising graduate level students.
- Demonstrated potential for serving as a committee chair or committee member on thesis, scholarly inquiry paper, or DNP project committees.
- Demonstrated evidence of scholarly research or creative achievement.
- Demonstrated effective leadership experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse individuals and communities.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration with community partners.

About the Department: The Department of Graduate Nursing (DGN) faculty are an innovative, energizing group of nurses that are consistently looking for unique and pioneering methods of educating our advanced practice nurses, nurse leaders, and nurse educators. The DGN has Master’s, Doctoral, and Graduate Certificate programs offer nursing science core classes and advanced nursing practice core classes in addition to specific role courses for nurse educators, nurse leaders, nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists. In addition to clinical practica, simulation is utilized to provide a safe learning environment for students to gain confidence in their advanced roles and practice procedures in faculty presence. The learning environment encourages intercollegiate collaboration, enhancement of teaching skills and innovative use of technology.
