This position is eligible for a flexible work arrangement and can be performed primarily remotely with flexible working hours subject to supervisor approval. The Sr. Grants and Contracts Specialist collaboratively assists faculty with managing pre and post award activities for externally sponsored research as a member of the Office of Research Team in the College of Public Health and as a liaison to the university’s Office of Sponsored Programs in accordance with CPH Research Guidelines. Assists with proposal development and submission as well as co-management of grant financials and personnel appointments with the faculty Principal Investigator and the Sponsored Program Officer. Works closely with the Director of the Office of Research to ensure all pre and post award needs and compliance requirements are satisfied.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 4 years of relevant experience

Pay Range: $58,100-$77,450

50% - Pre-Award: Reads and interprets proposal guidelines for external grant proposal submissions, develops budgets, drafts budget justifications, initiates proposals in online submission platforms, fills out required proposal submission forms, collects final technical documents for proposal package, coordinates ancillary document (non technical) collection for submission from Co-Investigators, coordinates subaward materials, checks all documents for simple formatting such as margins, font type and size, provides checklists to faculty of the required proposal package pieces, ensures all proposal pieces are collected and uploads final documents online, coordinates proposal review and submission with Sponsored Program Officer and the faculty Principal Investigator to submit in advance of the published deadline, obtains all internal approvals of PA005 form, budget, cost share, etc prior to submission, serves as the expert lead on large, complex submissions such as center grants being submitted by CPH, serves as the NIH F31/F30 expert, submits multiple proposals for the same deadline.

40 % - Post Award: Uses Workday-Grants Administration Dashboard and PI Portal to assist Principal Investigators with co-management of grant project financials and personnel appointments. Works closely with the faculty PI and the
Sponsored Program Officer to ensure any project specific compliance is being followed for purchasing, personnel appointments, travel, cost share, export controls, human subjects, animal subjects, conflict of interest, research training completions, effort certifications, etc. Guides PIs on next steps with issuance of notices of awards, rebudgets if necessary, assists PIs with problem solving post award issues, initiates Supplier Contracts in Workday to set up subawards on external grants, assists with financial progress and final reporting on individual grants within appropriate online systems such as eRA Commons, assists with budgets for no-cost extensions, carry forwards, spend down plans and project closeout as needed by the SPO and faculty PI.

10 % - Assists the Director of the Office of Research with management of approvals of internal approval form e-PA005, and requests for PI status, liaison to College centers, guidance special initiatives such as Research Day and
Research Refresher. Interacts with the Business Operations Manager and PIs to draft budgets for internal research MOUs and reviews MOU for budget and e-PA005 allocations terms to ensure terms are accurate and clear. Other
duties as assigned .
