Job Description:

We are looking for a dynamic, results driven individual to join as a Group Accounting Manager - Plastic Assembly to oversee all accounting activities for the Plastics Group. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Accounting, this role will focus on managing all aspects daily, monthly and annual accounting activities and driving consistency of accounting policies and procedures. Group Accounting Manager - Plastic Assembly will partner with the respective Plastics Group FP&A Manager and members of the finance leadership team to provide accounting records and other information needed to support ongoing financial analysis and decision-making.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Group Accounting Manager - Plastic Assembly covers both Brooklyn Park, MN and Athens, Texas and needs be located within a reasonable commuting distance to one of the locations (Brooklyn Park, MN is the preferred location)
  • Lead and supervise a team of 7-10 accounting-focused (AR, AP, Fixed Assets, etc.) individuals
  • Help ensure financial and accounting policies and procedures are followed by all divisional companies and assist in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures
  • Ensuring sound financial controls are in place and maintained over time
  • Effectively plan, coordinate, and orchestrate timelines and deliverables
  • Provide complete and accurate data to support the monthly flash and projection process for the Group
  • Support monthly close and maintain an understanding of the quarterly forecast, annual budget, and long-range plan processes
  • Align best practices across divisions for all financial reporting, including aligning templates to fit Corporate, Group, and other divisional or plant-level needs
  • Maintain intercompany settlement and reconciliation processes
  • Collaborate with cost accountants on financial models used to value inventory and assist in the recognition of adjustments to the books and records
  • Support and enhance collections and payment processes including resolution of key matters or issues
  • Assist in the development and build-out of a non-US-based shared service center model for certain clerical accounting functions
  • Assist in the company’s annual audit/review processes
  • Oversee reporting and compliance with state and local tax requirements in each location
  • Assist with plant-level and corporate-level special projects and implementation of new accounting standards financial controls, etc., as requested

Requirements:

Education and Skills:

  • Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (e.g. Finance)
  • At least 7 years of experience in industry or public accounting
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP

o Strong attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and strong communication skills
o Ability to act independently and prioritize responsibilities and tasks
o Must be highly computer literate in data mining and ERP systems
o Willing to travel 15-30% to support in-person work with a non-home base location

  • Preferred
  • Experience in cost accounting and inventory management
  • Accounting/financial analysis experience within a manufacturing company, preferably in the medical device industry
  • Experience with NetSuite as an ERP
  • Knowledge of and experience with international tax/reporting requirements (VAT, IFRS, etc.)
  • Experience working with a non-US-based shared service center
  • CPA and/or CMA certification (active or inactive)
