Ealga lodge Nursing home has a vacancy for a Head Chef

The candidate will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Lead the kitchen team and ensure the ongoing development of Team Members
  • Identify an effective approach to menu planning
  • Create menus that meet and exceed residents needs and expectations
  • Ensure the consistent production of high-quality food
  • Develop positive resident experience through proactive interaction with Residents, Team Members, contractors, and suppliers
  • Resolve, promptly and completely, any issues that may arise in the kitchen or related areas among Residents and Team Members
  • Manage department operations, including budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, and waste management
  • Manage all aspects of the kitchen including operational, quality, and administrative functions
  • Actively seek verbal feedback from residents on a regular basis and respond to all resident queries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensuring adequate resources are available according to business needs
  • Control costs without compromising quality,
  • Ensure team members have up-to-date knowledge of menu items and specific resident requirements.
  • Maintain good communication and work relationships with all stakeholders
  • Ensure that staffing levels are maintained
  • Ensure monthly communication meetings are conducted and post-meeting minutes generated
  • Manage staff performance issues in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Recruit, manage, train, and develop the kitchen team
  • Comply with company security, fire regulations, and all health and safety and food safety legislation
  • Ensure maintenance, hygiene, and hazard issues are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Manage financial performance of the department so all planning is in line with company objectives
  • Manage food control systems, ensure they are adhered to,
  • Regular review of all menus with Director of Nursing to confirm resident offerings are in line with market trends
  • Be environmentally aware
  • Ensure food wastage program is adhered to
  • Responsible for ensuring that the working schedules are made and maintained and payroll processed

Minimum 1 years experience in chef role

Roster over 7 days 8am to 5.30pm (This will be 40-42.5 hrs per i.e. 8-8.5 hr day)

Nursing home experience beneficial but not essential.
