As the Head of Claims International, Reinsurance, you will lead a team of claim professionals responsible for handling reinsurance claims for the UK, Europe, Asia and Africa, while providing technical advice and direction. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of claim handling across the team and delivering market leading services to internal customers (underwriters, actuaries, finance, etc.) and external clients (brokers and cedents). You will be a key subject matter expert for AXA XL Re and will operate in a highly collaborative team environment to achieve shared corporate strategies and objectives. You will collaborate with other Claims colleagues around the world to implement global claim strategies and best practices.
This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Manage the day to day activity of a claim operation and the claim professionals located in London, LeMans, Singapore and Zurich in accordance with reinsurance claims handling guidelines, service standards, and local regulations.
- Implement agreed reserving philosophy locally and ensure reserves are in compliance with company protocols.
- Supervise, direct, coach and develop claim professionals, including assessing performance and ensuring development plans are in place and actioned.
- Direct, manage and track claim audit activity as a key service to internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Responsible for reporting on large exposures for board and regulatory reporting as required, provide claim insight that aides the underwriting and actuarial processes.
- Ensure appropriate governance controls in place to manage/mitigate against risks associated with the claim operations and complies with local regulatory requirements.
- Support international claims operations and collaborate with the Global Head of Claims and other Claims leaders across the segment on significant large losses and the creation and implementation of consistent business processes, systems and digitization strategies.
- Managing internal and external audits, while ensuring company controls, reporting and procedures are in compliance.
- Driving claim analytics and portfolio management initiatives for Underwriting and Actuarial through trend analysis and reporting loss variances.
- Providing superior customer service to internal stakeholders and ensuring the high customer service to clients are upheld across the claims team.
- Represent and promote the Company at industry functions, developing its reputation and brand; effectively network with other senior claim professionals, developing relationships with representatives from clients.
- Effectively coordinate, communicate and collaborate with other members of the senior management within the UK, Europe, Asia and Africa.
In this role, you will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, International Reinsurance with dual reporting to the Global Head of Claims.

- This leader must be a seasoned reinsurance claim professional with extensive property and casualty knowledge as well as general business expertise. The candidate must have proven managerial experience with overseeing claim department operations, highly comfortable with technology, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Demonstrated people management skills including a history of successfully developing talent to the next level and building successful teams.
- Leadership skills: Can coach, develop, set expectations, evaluate and hold people accountable for delivering. Can be a role model setting a high bar for performance, engagement and commitment. Takes initiative and able to work and lead well under pressure.
- Demonstrated technical competence managing and evaluating large complex reinsurance claims.
- Robust analytical skills, problem-solving and sound judgment, including review of data and other types of business information, trends and drawing supported conclusion based on the data.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a collaborative environment, yet independently manage a department and implement, execute and instill controls, processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated customer focus which displays a sense of urgency when dealing with internal customers and external client issues, insights into customer needs and performance to meet customer expectations.
- Outstanding communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently juggle numerous concurrent responsibilities.
- Results oriented/driving results – demonstrated ability to consistently set and achieve challenging and attainable goals to deliver required outcomes.
