Job Description:
Works on Special Events and Moving Crew which provides logistical and labor for moving of the University Departments, assist individuals, academic departments and other University groups with logistical support for special events, programs and other activities within a major state university with over 30,000 students and 4,500 full time faculty and staff. Hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, however extended ours and weekends may be required in order to meet the needs of the University.
Job Duties:
50%- Works on Special Events and Moving Crew which provides logistical and labor for moving of the University Departments, assist individuals, academic departments and other University groups with logistical support for special events, programs and other activities within a major state university with over 30,000 students and 4,500 full time faculty and staff. Hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, however extended ours and weekends may be required in order to meet the needs of the University.
15%- Moves University offices, loads and unloads general office furnishing includes furniture, file cabinets, tables, chairs, and other materials. Assists occupants with packing materials, sorting and arrangement of office furnishing and materials. Relocates or moves specialized equipment such as research equipment, laser tables, electromagnets, growth chambers, computer equipment, copiers, music equipment including band equipment and pianos weighing up to 2,500 pounds. Loads and unloads various materials/supplies.
15%- Delivers and picks up tables, chairs, and other special events furniture; sets up for special events Assist management in inventory control of University equipment and materials delivered and picked up by vendors. Sets up and assembles multi-sectional staging from 10" to 42" high and risers by doing the actual work or directing efforts to laboring personnel. Inspects completed work to doing the actual work or directing the efforts to laboring personnel. Inspects completed work to ensure that it is safe, functional, and capable of supporting the intended personnel or activity.
5%-Picks up, loads, and delivers surplus property to the University Property warehouse and the State Property Control warehouse. Verifies the correctness of deliveries and pickups by checking University equipment tag numbers against the property control form and paperwork. Checks work done by laboring personnel to insure correctness and maintain inventory control.
5%- Performs housekeeping tasks and maintains cleanliness of the special events warehouse and vehicles.
5%- Assembles furniture, special events set ups, Modular Office systems, shelving, and other items using hand tools, makes minor repairs on special events furniture.
5%- Performs a wide variety of miscellaneous physical labor functions including pressure washing required to maintain the efficient operation of the University. Assist as required and performs all the same functions as laboring personnel in providing these services. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
No experience or training is required.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Due to the nature of the position and/ or responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol, testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. In accordance with PS-18, this position may be required to report to or stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure. This position requires the ability to lift at least 20 pounds, walk, stand, bend, ascend and descend stairs throughout the day and move furniture and or equipment of at least 20 pounds.
