The role you’ll contribute:

Processes specimens for pathologic diagnosis, tissue fixation, processing, preparing and staining slides for microscopic examination by the pathologist.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Performs analytical activities related to specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special histologic staining, frozen sectioning, cover slipping and handling of irreplaceable tissue, surgical and body fluid specimens

• May prepare specimens utilized for research requests

• May transport specimens to/from collection sites and is responsible for shipment of specimens to/from collaborator sites; takes the necessary training to ensure compliance under federal/state /regulatory guidelines

• Ensures special stains are performed on tissues, as needed

• May perform special staining, maintaining solutions and documents quality control.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Highschool degree or equivalent

PREFERRED:

• Associate's degree or Technical degree in a related field

• One year of technical experience as a Histology technician/technologist in a Histology laboratory setting

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert

• Histotechnician
