Hospitality Attendant – Job Description

The Orchard Respite Centre provides specialist respite care for people with dementia and cognitive impairment.

The Orchard Respite Centre is open to people with dementia anywhere in Ireland. We offer specialist care for up to 11 clients at a time, on a seven-day basis and for a specified period, usually one to two weeks.

The Orchard Respite Centre are seeking an experienced Hospitality Attendant to join their team on a full-time basis.

Overview of the role
As Hospitality Attendant, your role will be integral in contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the centre management. You will be responsible for the provision of high-quality catering and housekeeping service to all clients of the respite centre.

This role reports to and is responsible to the Centre Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carrying out all daily and weekly routines together with any special duties as directed by the centre manager.
  • Responsible for overseeing all aspects of cleaning within the centre while maintaining excellent cleaning standards throughout the centre.
  • Ensuring that all cleaning products/chemicals and equipment are used and stored appropriately
  • Ensuring storage, preparation and service areas are clean
  • Handling laundry
  • Adhere to good practice with regard to hygiene, health and safety, HACCP and COSHH Regulation at all times meeting all legislative requirements in relation to food safety and control and monitoring of food temperatures.
  • Maintaining a good manner with residents, family and visitors and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Assisting in the preparation and service of all meals and the organisation and maintenance of food preparation areas.
  • Understand daily menus and ensure stock levels are maintained and rotated in line with food safety standards.
  • Responsibility for food and non-food ordering
  • Ad hoc duties as required.
What are the qualification, skills and experience required?
  • HACCP Trained
  • Experience working in a similar role preferable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Can work as part of a team
  • Able to work in a busy environment and deliver excellent standards
  • Fluent level of English both written and oral.
  • Ability to ensure a high standard of record keeping
  • To have knowledge of EHO requirements and recording of relevant documentation
