Under the general direction of the EVS Lead, the Housekeeping Assistant performs day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility and to insure that our facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing manner.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.

2. Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.

3. Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc in resident rooms, recreational areas, etc., daily as instructed.

4. Clean, wash, sanitize and/or polish bathroom fixtures. Ensure that watermarks are removed from fixtures.

5. Clean windows/mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms and entrance/exit ways.

6. Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc.

7. Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing and disinfecting.

8. Clean walls, and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.

9. Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.

10. Clean offices, hallways, stairways and elevators.

11. Discard waste, trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.

12. Clean vacant rooms as assigned.

13. Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas before breaks, meal times, and at the end of the work day.

Supports and participates with all required compliance standards that may be department specific and/or identified by the organizations including in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress code.

4. Adheres to HIPAA requirements and maintains confidentiality of all data, including patient/resident, employee and operations information.

5. Supports and participates in a collaborative team oriented environment – cooperates and works together with all co-workers, plans and completes job duties, uses appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations and follows up as appropriate regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.

6. Supports, cooperates with and demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules – including universal precautions - reports and prevents/corrects unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and departmental safety programs.

7. Completes all required compliance standards that may be department specific and/or identified by the organization.

8. Maintains current licensure, registration and/or certification, as applicable, at all times.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education / Training: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.


B. Work Experience: Housekeeping experience in Long Term Care setting preferred.


C. Contacts and Communications: Requires the ability to communicate effectively with staff, management and in interaction with residents and visitors.


D. Analytical Demands: Requires the ability to follow oral instructions and read written instruction.


E. Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge


F. Certification, Licensure, Registration: None


WORKING CONDITIONS:

A. Physical Effort: Physical ability to carry supplies, push cart. Ability to access all areas of the facility throughout the work day. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently.


B. Physical Activity: Walking, bending, lifting heavy objects, pushing, standing, ability to read, write and speak English, hearing, repetitive motions. Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling.


C. Work Environment: Exposed to inside/outside environmental conditions; exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents. Close quarters and small enclosed rooms. May be required to perform tasks, which involve exposure to visible blood contamination or reasonably anticipated blood contamination.


D. Equipment Used: General housekeeping supplies, including but not limited to: carts, mops, buckets, vacuum cleaner, etc. Some general office equipment to include computer, telephone, etc.

A. Reports to: Reports to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance.
