Our role of Plant HR Generalist is based in Martinsville, VA and will be responsible for the administration of the day-to-day operations of the hourly staffing functions and human resources duties. This partner carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: payroll, employee benefits, enrollment questions, personnel files, policies and procedures, safety, onboarding and retention.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Support Talent Acquisition in building and maintaining applicant flow.
• Explain company personnel policies, benefits and procedures to job applicants team members and candidates.
• Perform activities related to the Hourly Pre-Hire process including: Interviewing applicants, conducting reference checks, background checks, drug screens, Secure Fit Production Assessment tool and setting up plant tours.
• With the help of plant supervisors, conduct performance evaluations at 30 and 60 days of employment.
• Work closely with HRM, supervisors and plant management on recruitment and retention strategies.
• Assist with conducting exit interviews for all team members. Track and analyze data.
• Support on boarding of new exempt making arrangement, interview process, hotels.
• Tracking terminations and performing exit interviews.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Human Resources or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant Hourly Recruiting experience in a manufacturing environment, in rural plant locations.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant HR Generalist experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Food (USDA) manufacturing industry experience is preferred.
• Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (Taleo, Kenexa Brassring, People Click or similar technologies), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• Strong communication, organizational, planning and execution skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
