This position reports to the Correctional Administrative Services Manager at the healthcare complex of a multi-custody male correctional facility. Additionally, this position must be reliable, very organized and is responsible for various Human Resources tasks. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Processing and monitoring Worker's Compensation Claims.

  • Processing and keying time for Voluntary Shared Leave.
  • Processing intermittent and/or continuous FMLA.
  • Assisting employees with benefit questions and enrollment for new hires and annual open enrollment.
  • Providing back up for the entry of employee work hours/time.
  • Filing and completing entry memorandums.
  • Performing all other Human Resources duties as needed.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

The salary grade for this position is NC05 (Salary Range: $31,200 - $54,101). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Central Prison Healthcare Complex (CPHC):
Central Prison Healthcare Complex (CPHC) is located on the campus of Central Prison in Raleigh, NC. Central Prison itself serves as the admission point into prison for adult male felons sentenced to 20 years or more and houses special populations, including death row and safe-keepers.

The primary purpose of CPHC is to provide inpatient treatment for patients using evidenced-based medical practices, therapy programs, surgical services, post-operative care, etc. that will enable the offender patients to be returned to their home facility as quickly as possible. CPHC is the main medical and mental health center for male offenders in the state.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

Management Preferences*:

  • Prior experience working in HR in a Correctional or Institutional setting.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate degree, typically in Human Resources, from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
