Job description
This position supports the BAE Systems Land & Armaments L.P. Combat Missions Systems (CMS) Import/Export department in preparing export license applications and agreements, monitors the export and import of technical data, hardware, and services, and all other related activities to achieve business objectives while maintaining strict compliance with applicable U.S. government laws and regulations. The selected candidate can work near any major Combat Mission Systems site to include San Jose, CA; Phoenix, AZ; York, PA; Sterling Heights, MI; Minneapolis, MN; and Falls Church, VA. This job primarily supports the Louisville, KY location, therefore, a candidate in the Louisville area is preferred. Full-time remote work will be considered for the right candidate.
CMS operates in a highly regulated space as we focus on the development, production and integration of systems to provide advanced solutions across ground, amphibious and maritime platforms to meet our customers' mission requirements. The business area's numerous sites across the United States employ advanced manufacturing technologies and a highly skilled workforce. Product lines include Amphibious Vehicles, Ground Vehicles, Armored Protective Seats for Military Aircraft, and Weapon Systems.
Supports the preparation, submittal and maintenance of import/export authorizations (i.e. Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA), Manufacturing License Agreements (MLA), ATF permits, Department of State/Commerce Licenses, etc.) required to achieve business objectives utilizing the OCR/EASE Export Management System. This may include coordination with program personnel to gather detailed information to support the authorization. Meeting program objectives and schedules by processing applications and paperwork in a timely manner is critical.
Reviews presentations, briefings, etc. for appropriate export control markings and compliance with authorizations and export control regulations, if applicable, prior to release outside of the Sector/Company.
Reviews and approves all international travel and foreign visit requests.
Supports all internal, external and government import/export audits and self-assessments.
Assists the review and approval of international shipments to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable U.S. regulations.
Reviews and approves international purchase orders prior to release to a foreign supplier.
Assists in the development of company policies, procedures and work instructions.
Performs denied party screenings to support various department processes.
Acquires a general understanding of U.S. import/export control regulations (i.e. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), etc.) via attendance at relevant seminars, BAE Systems training, and/or hands-on tasks and self-study.
Reports any potential violations to the Export Compliance Manager.
Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objective and policies.
Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's degree and/or 2 years related experience.
A high degree of oral/written communication skills and the ability to interpret and apply government regulations.
Must be able to effectively communicate with individuals at various levels throughout the organization both written and verbally.
Proficient computer skills including all Microsoft office applications. Experience with OCR/EASE is highly desired.
Must be a self-starter. Capable of working independently, as well as, in a team environment.
Excellent time management skills; multi-task, plan, prioritize, organize and control heavy workloads in a fast paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with others and respond well to direction.
Attention to detail is a must.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of the ITAR, EAR, BATFE and other laws and regulations governing international trade are desired.
