An excellent Legal Counsel role has just become available at a highly regarded multinational construction business, based in Ireland. This is a newly created permanent role in a fast-growing team. Reporting directly to the General Counsel UK&I and working closely with the Managing Director in Ireland, this legal role is a fantastic opportunity.

In this business-critical Legal Counsel position you will be responsible for providing pragmatic, responsive and cost-effective legal advice to optimize the management of legal risk taking a holistic approach to the business, including the management of external counsel and the management and supervision of direct reports.

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for the successful provision of legal services.

Responsibilities include:

General Commercial

• Draft and amend bespoke and precedent commercial contracts
• Participate in guidance and training for the business on general and topical legal matters relevant to the company.
• Provide advice on general commercial matters relating to the business of the company

Construction

• Participate as a member of tendering and project teams
• Advise on main contract, subcontract and supply chain strategies
• Tender plans including the analysis of contract risk and drafting and negotiating contract amendments

Management

• Oversee work allocation for direct reports and take decisions as to how to resource the work with General Counsel UK&I
• Provide effective support and guidance and day to day line management including professional supervision
• Promote a culture of professional development and continuous improvement

About You

• A solicitor with 6 years PQE post qualification experience (All applicants will be considered regardless)
• Experience of dispute resolution and/or construction and/or commercial contracts drafting relevant to fields of expertise
• Ability to obtain clients instructions and articulate advice clearly and concisely
• Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision
• Able to prioritise their workload effectively, working to tight deadlines under pressure
• An excellent communicator who can solve problems
• The ability to manage and motivate direct reports
