Instructional Service Center Director - Tutwiler
Job description
The Instructional Service Center Director will provide day-to-day management of all programs at an ISTC campus, including any ISTC programs located inside a correctional facility. All duties are performed under the direct supervision of the Dean of Instruction and President. Listed below are the primary duties of this position; however, the Dean of Instruction and/or President may assign other professional responsibilities to meet the College's needs.
- Surveys facilities for adequate use,
- Maintains safe facilities,
- Conducts facility inspections,
- Ensure safe and reliable operation of real property installed equipment,
- Ensures security of facilities when unoccupied,
- Ensures cleanliness of facilities and upkeep of grounds,
- Plans and budgeting for repairs,
- Schedules maintenance and repairs,
- Directs all maintenance operations,
- Coordinates responses to utility,
- Tracks operation and maintenance expenses,
- Schedules and conducts fire and emergency weather drills,
- Conducts facility tours,
- Provide day-to-day oversight and supervision for instruction and student services,
- Coordinating faculty activities through the Dean of Instruction and other directors,
- Approves and schedule for faculty and support staff absences,
- Plans, develops, organizes, and administers operational and educational programs and student services,
- Supervises all campus faculty and support staff,
- Supervises facility maintenance and custodial student aides,
- Manages the assignment of student instructional aides,
- Coordinates technology and administrative services with appropriate deans,
- Makes recommendations to fill faculty and staff vacancies,
- Communicates directly with the Department of Corrections employees concerning security, student scheduling, and transportation,
- Provides daily written status and incident reports to the President and Dean of Instruction concerning facilities, faculty, students, and staff,
- Provides monthly leave schedule for all faculty and staff to the President and Dean of Instruction,
- Conducts a continuous self-study using current accrediting agency standards,
- Performs other duties as assigned by the President and Deans,
- Serves on College committees,
- Must be eligible to enter all Department of Corrections (DOC) facilities to perform the job duties and maintain this status for continued employment.
- Serves on committees as needed.
- Possesses an understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a community and technical college.
- Possesses a sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
- Complies with any applicable guidelines and policies set forth by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and J.F. Ingram State Technical College.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated record of effectiveness in leadership and resource development/management,
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, and teambuilding skills, which lead to logical decisions,
- Experience with the day-to-day operation of a busy, multi-service office, including supervision, evaluations, and mentoring of staff and professional development,
- Ability to manage and communicate with large groups of unclassified incarcerated students daily without supervision is required.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; three (3) years of successful full-time supervisory experience is required. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in a postsecondary or correctional education environment is preferred.

Salary Range: Salary will be determined by placement on the appropriate Alabama Community College System-approved salary schedule. C 2 ($74,597 - $111,563)
