Alexion is looking for a sharp-minded, outspoken, and upbeat data leader who will be responsible for establishing functional plans and delivering technical projects/programs to meet the short- and long-term goals and metrics of the organization. You should be able to architect and design data and analytics solutions to meet specific business demands, driving value from information and ensuring end-to-end delivery.
Alexion Rare Disease Unit is looking to build the next generation of patient-centric data analytic and application platforms, and we are looking for a qualified individual whose passion is understanding how to best apply healthcare data and platforms to drive business innovation.
We are looking for an individual with a broad set of technology skills to lead robust data solutions that use disparate datasets, data lake repositories, reporting technologies, Data Science toolkits, Master Data Management technologies, and Data Catalog solutions. The candidate will have to supervise global demands and work with internal and vendor delivery organizations to ensure the right delivery approach/model has been followed.
This individual will play a critical role in the success of the IT organization and will be responsible for continuously improving data management capabilities across the International region. They will be a visible IT leader with an interface to global Alexion leadership.
You need to be client-oriented, capable of independently developing sophisticated data management, business analytics, data integration solutions, and skilled at presenting solutions to broad audiences within IT and Business groups. You should have experience in Commercial, Medical, Patient Services, and R&D functions for an international Pharma/Biopharma company. You should have outstanding project and team management capabilities, deep technical skills, and the ability to lead vendor relationships.
You will be responsible for:
- Understanding business, conceptualizing analysis framework, defining data requirements, and coordinating implementation with business partners and vendors for solution prototyping, solution building, and service delivery across the globe.
- Driving initiatives in Data Management, deploying Data Governance practices, and implementing key strategies for the RDU Data, Insights, and Analytics organization
- Coordinating with internal delivery teams, to facilitate and define project scope, goals, and deliverables, develop project plans, track deliverables, to ensure compliance and bare minimums with respect to quality and audit are met, and review performance and provide year-end feedback
- Review & approve design documents prepared by Managed Service Providers while working on new implementations to ensure quality and consistency across the footprint
- Configure information, vendor runbook and effectively communicate the points around incidents, service requests, changes, and problems and assist in solving issues impacting business
- Help build modeled schemas using conceptual data models and sophisticated data transformations and cleansing rules, and lead the conceptual design of simple to sophisticated data pipelines
- Responsible, for working with product owner & vendor team, to ensure that the lead time to deploy changes is continuously improving and benchmarks appropriately across other functions
- Provide consultancy advice, as a trusted partner, to the both global and regional collaborators within the business and other technology teams from strategic partners/vendors for ongoing and new implementation projects and ensure they are aligned with organization goals
You will need to have:
- Strong Service Delivery management experience in Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Management, and Governance areas (across locations and geographies)
- In-depth working knowledge of data modeling and expertise in designing data models (relational & non-relational), that facilitate the management of key master/reference data like Patient, Healthcare Professional / Organization, Vendor, Payer, Product, and their associated hierarchies
- Organize data at the macro level using conceptual/logical data models as a standard for the golden source and for consuming applications to inherit, with the ability to extend the data model to bridge internal data with 3rd Party data sources
- Ability to successfully lead a matrixed team of Business Analysts, Data Engineers, and Analytics Developers through all phases of the development life cycles, including requirements definition, architecture, design, development, implementation, and testing
- Strong experience in leading, crafting and developing data lake and data integration architectures, as well as Data Quality, Data Cleansing & Profiling, Metadata Management, and Data Catalog solutions, and prior experience in leading medium to large end-to-end engagements in Business Intelligence using Qlik Sense and Data Science toolkits incorporating R and Python; should possess knowledge of applications like Veeva CRM, Salesforce.com, Veeva Network & OpenData
- Must be proficient in Software Development Lifecycle including coding standards, version management etc., and have a solid understanding of Agile Methodology
- Must have proven ability to balance priorities and timelines, be conscientious, organized, self-motivated, collaborative, engaging, and able to work with limited supervision
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field of study (Computer Science/Engineering preferred) and have superb communication, analytical and logical thinking skills, meticulous with an ability to take a macro view
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
We would prefer for you to have:
- Master’s degree in a technical or healthcare-related field of study
- Prior experience of 10+ years in Data Management working in Pharma/BioPharma or other healthcare organization
- Prior experience working on digital health initiatives
