IT Business Analyst Lead in GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

Understanding business value chains, Aerospace and Defense experience a plus. Six sigma, LEAN a plus. BABOK a plus. Strong experience creating, managing and validating business cases and preparing detailed business requirements required.


Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, math, a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 11 years leading Business Analysis for complex, technology-based business initiatives or 6 years specific SAP system config, development and deployment experience.

Position Purpose:

Under administrative direction, uses specialized knowledge and skills to assist in the development or improvement of technology solutions by providing business analysis support for larger and more complex applications, including analyzing and documenting business processes and translating user requirements to software development teams. Provides training and plans, assigns, monitors and leads the work of others. Recommends or provides comprehensive solutions to complex problems. Results are evaluated at agreed upon milestones for effectiveness in achieving specified results. Extensive contact with internal customers is required. to identify, research, analyze and resolve complex issues.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  • Engages stakeholders and technology users in identifying, analyzing, refining and documenting business requirements for IT systems. .

  • Reviews operational procedures and methods; maps current business processes; defines and analyzes business activities; identifies best practices; and recommends improvements. .

  • Develops conceptual design documents, including alternative solutions, scope of work, functional specifications and logical skeletons for new systems. .

  • Serves as a liaison between end users and software development teams, including functioning as a subject matter expert (SME) in translating requirements to software development teams. .

  • Makes formal written and oral presentations on analysis findings, recommendations and system specifications.

  • Identifies requirements for testing, develops test plans and scripts and coordinates testing, as required. .

  • Works with technical resources to assist with IT application/integration testing.

  • Follows up with internal clients about completed tasks to ensure client satisfaction. .

  • Adheres to established standards and maintains currency in business analysis practices, procedures and techniques. .

  • Daily contact with department employees and other departments to exchange job-related information.

  • Provides direction to a team of business analysts to achieve the capture of business requirements for large, complex initiatives which can be further decomposed and addressed more efficiently.

Additional Functions:
  • Interprets, applies and recommends changes to organizational policies and procedures. .

  • Trains, coaches and mentors others. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  • Knowledge of info sys used to support a variety of business areas to include an understanding of integrated systems preferred.

  • Knowledge of IT sys enviro/platforms and development tools.

  • Concepts of risk management, issue tracking, change management and requirements gathering required.

  • Advanced concepts, practices and procedures for analyzing business processes required.

  • Demonstration of business process modeling capabilities.

  • Good consulting, client relations skills and customer service orientation.

  • Strong, hands on experience of BA methodologies, concepts, tools and techniques; particularly flowcharting, business process modelling, ability to read and write scripts and the ability to interpret tech requirements.

  • A Masters degree may be used to offset 1 year of experience; PhD may offset 2 years of experience.

A credit history check from a national credit bureau will be conducted for all candidates for this position including new hires and current employees seeking promotion or transfer.
