Junior Programmer
Spangler Candy Company, a world class candy manufacturer is currently seeking a
Junior Programmer to fill a full time position within the IT Department. Spangler Candy is a family-owned private company founded in 1906. Our well-known and loved brands include Dum Dums, Sat-T-Pops, Spangler Candy Canes, Spangler Circus Peanuts, Necco Wafers, Sweethearts, Canada Mints and Bit-O-Honey.
Primary responsibilities of the
Junior Programmer:
- The Programmer has the authority and primary responsibility for assuring effective management of computer programming, making certain activities conform to management’s objectives and corporate policies.
- Assures computer programming of all new systems and program are accomplished accurately, effectively and with adequate documentation.
- Supports the organization’s commitment to ensure that our food safety and quality plans conform to all regulatory requirements and with food quality and safety requirements of our customers and reports any problems or potential problems observed concerning food safety and quality to Supervision immediately.
Responsibilities Include:
- Programs all new systems requested by Project Lead
- Updates existing programs as needed or requested by Project Lead and/or primary user.
- Tests new programs, implements the system and ensures all programs are performing correctly.
- Assists operations in resolution of errors occurring; i.e. equipment or program problems as needed.
- Conducts formal and informal training of non-data processing personnel in use of informational tools and systems available.
- Maintains terminals, ID’s, passwords and addresses.
- Evaluates and recommends program changes and their effects to the total system.
- Maintains current back up of system files in event of a disaster.
- Maintains program reference libraries.
- Performs special projects as assigned by Project Lead or IT Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Project Manager or IT Manager.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate the following:
- Good vision, color vision, hearing and speaking ability and finger dexterity. Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, reach, pull, use personal computer, lift and/or carry up to approximately 20 lbs. Ability to read, write, follow instructions, perform mathematical calculations, record/report information and draw conclusions from visual and/or physical inspection of assigned tasks. Personal computer, fax machine, copy/duplicating equipment, adding machine and various office hand tools.
