    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education certification. (020)
    • Bachelor of Science (Elementary Education)
    REPORTS TO: Building Leader

    Dayton school is looking for an enthusiastic educator for our Kindergarten classroom.

    Candidates will:

    1. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide customized, small and large group instruction.
    2. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to create a classroom atmosphere conducive to
    learning.
    3. Regularly assess each student’s academic and social growth, maintains appropriate and timely records, and prepare
    progress reports.
    5. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means such as newsletters, email, phone calls, student
    information system postings (as applicable), web pages, blogs, and other electronic means to discuss student’s
    progress as it relates to curriculum.
    6. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members to help students assess and benefit from
    the district curriculum.
    7. Create an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools.
    8. Continue professional growth through various means such as professional learning communities, conferences,
    workshops, professional memberships and readings, etc.
    9. Select and budgets books, instructional supplies, equipment and technology based on best practices aligned with the
    district curriculum.
    10. Administer standardized and common assessments in accordance with district and state assessment schedules.
    11. Participate in professional development in order to advance the vision and mission of the district.
    12. Regular participation on school and/or district committees is strongly encouraged.
    13. Regularly utilizes student data to inform instruction.
    14. Maintain technological proficiency for purposes of instruction, reporting and communicating.
    15. Varies instructional techniques to address individual learning styles.
    16. Facilitates critical thinking, problem solving and creativity skills.
    17. Advances the vision, the mission and school improvement efforts of the school district.
    18. Participates in parent conferences, open houses, and other required school events based on the responsibilities of the
    assigned position.
    19. Other job-related duties as assigned by the Building Leader.
