Plastics: With new technology trends, our plastic additives can be experienced in many everyday items including vinyl, blow-molding bottles, film, rigid containers, PVC plastics, siding, decks and rails, foam pipes and profile formulations, window frames and high-efficiency lubricants.
Industrial intermediates: As the product of a reaction that is beneficial when used as a precursor chemical for another product, industrial intermediates can take on many shapes and forms. Ours are used in home comfort and appliance, building and construction, adhesives, and lubricants, and more.

Dow has an exciting job opportunity for a Lab Analyst in Plaquemine, LA.
Job Summary:
A Lab Analyst utilizes knowledge to gain experience in how to perform routine analyses and evaluate results. The lab analyst will calibrate and maintain analytical systems to provide good analytical data used to produce and release products in a safe and reliable manner. This is a shift position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Route requests originating within the unit to the appropriate service provider
- Prepare basic calibration standards
- Perform basic calibration and maintenance of analytical systems.
- Collect samples according to Sample Plan.
- Perform routine analyses.
- Use electronic tools such as required.
- Evaluate the validity of data, apply basic statistics, interpret results, and take appropriate action.
- Monitor analytical systems, identify problems, conduct first-line troubleshooting, and escalate as appropriate.
- Document, communicate, and archive analytical results and calibration data.
- Suggest and implement improvements to the EH&S and ODMS procedures, and analytical work processes and tools.
- Participate on analytical or plant improvement teams.
Required Qualifications:

Willing to adhere to all safety standards, including the smoke-free and drug-free workplace policy.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S.-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
A High School diploma plus one of the following is required:
- An Associate's degree or higher in a field of science.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant laboratory experience.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with chromatography and lab information data systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel.
- Bachelor of Science in chemistry or another field of science.
- More than 2 years relevant experience
Physical Requirements:
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Climb stairs and ladders.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator.
- Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.
- Work in an area with hazardous materials
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience, either in an academic setting or work environment with a variety of laboratory analytical instruments.
- Aptitude to acquire advanced knowledge of analytical systems and software through continuous learning.
- A knack for learning new systems quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills are required.
- Have strong multi-tasking, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
- Able to work within an empowered team environment.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision within an empowered team environment.
- Safety focused.
