Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Oversees the operation of a research lab and supervises the personnel working in this lab. This includes establishing procedures to be followed in the lab, setting priorities for work to be done and training of the lab assistants. Planning and organizing research tasks and the writing of grant proposals and scientific publications are major responsibilities.
Common Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Understanding of both the theoretical and technical aspects of a diverse set of laboratory procedures to include the operation and maintenance of Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer and Elemental Analyzer, ICP-Atomic Emission Spectrometer and the ability to train and supervise graduate and undergraduate research assistants in these procedures. Must have the ability to write grant proposals and scientific publications.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience, or accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 4 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or related field with experience in microbiological techniques.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Great organization skills; The ability to work autonomously; Excellent time management skills; Must be trained in aseptic technique; Basic knowledge of how to prepare microbiological specialty media.
