Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The complexity of social, economic, and structural factors that have created such lasting social problems as substandard housing, segregation, and homelessness and the need for sustainable community development demand a multidisciplinary, multi-method, community-engaged approach. Center for Housing and Community Studies (CHCS) brings together faculty, staff, and students from multiple disciplines to address these problems as well as to provide a point of contact for community partners, an opportunity for the practical education and training of UNCG students, and community-based evaluation and sustainable long-term regional planning.
Position Summary
The
Landlord Outreach Specialist will oversee and coordinate landlord outreach efforts for the Eviction Mediation Program with the Eviction Mediation Program Manager to develop relationships with landlords in the community. The position will work to increase landlord participation in government programs such as Section 8 and the current Emergency Rental Assistance Program. The Landlord Outreach Specialist will also reach out to landlords about investing in permanent affordable housing in our community.
The Landlord Outreach Specialist will develop outreach materials for landlords. This position will develop and maintain information on properties and landlord contacts for use by the Housing Navigation team.
The position will assist with data collection and perform community engagement to support CHCS in research and policy development work
The Landlord Outreach Specialist will attend regular meetings with staff, community partners, and stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
BACHELOR’S DEGREE AND ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years experience in the fields of housing policy, social work, business, or related fields.
- Ability to communicate professionally and directly with senior officials, elected officials, and executive directors.
- In-depth knowledge of conflict resolution and mediation.
- Knowledge of housing-related matters, including rental contracts and lease agreements, and local housing resources.
- Experience in working with a diverse group of people under difficult circumstances.
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Social Work.
- Knowledge of the law, in particular housing laws, would be preferred.
- Experience in communicating and disseminating findings to a broad and diverse audience through a written and oral presentations to diverse public constituencies.
- Experience in property management.
- Knowledge of various low-income housing grants/investments.
- Basic knowledge of the housing situation in the Guilford County area.
