Lead Instructor Position: Digital Arts, Technology and STEAM

SALARY: $40/hr for 40hrs/week, 5 weeks *plus training

LOCATION: Lynnwood, Washington

DESCRIPTION:

We think we're preparing kids for tomorrow. Kids just think it is cool! Are you passionate about video games, app design, Minecraft, Digital Movies, coding or STEAM?!

Edmonds College and their Youth camp department is hiring Lead Instructors to teach children aged 8-15 year old various types of Digital Arts programs. Lead instructors are adults who are passionate about working with and inspiring young people. Lead instructors may have a degree/experience in an educational setting, or experience in one of the topics being taught this summer. Classroom management skills are preferred. Training on the specific topics of the course will offered at no cost to the people who are hired.

Are classes will be taught on the Campus of Edmonds College.

This is a 40/hrs per week role, Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm each day.

Camps will run from July 5th-Aug. 11th. 5 weeks total with additional paid training time before camps begin.

Training requires availability on some evenings and weekends.

Class topics include:

Minecraft Redstone Engineers

Roblox: Coders and Engineers

Cyber Spies

Python Programmers

Beats and jams: Digital Music Creators

Youtube: Content Creators

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manage classroom of up to 15 students

· Lead instructor for content subject areas

· Come prepared each day to facilitate the course content effectively for the morning session and afternoon session

· Ensure each student is safe and attended to as they engage in the content provided

· Oversee student drop off in morning and pick up midday or in the afternoon

· Mentor assistant instructors in effective classroom and program management

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Classroom or other relevant experience working with elementary and middle school age students with a focus on technology, coding, gaming and digital content creation

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Classroom experience 1-2 years

· Background in coding, game design or digital arts with a focus on popular games such as:

o Minecraft

o Roblox

o Python programming

o Youtube Content creation

o Music production

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Instruction occurs in a computer on the Edmonds College campus. During lunch time, instructors may be asked to sit outside with students who are staying for the entire day. Instructors will also be asked to oversee students as they go to and from the bathroom to ensure coverage.

COMPENSATION:

Hourly wage range is $40 per hour

WORK SCHEDULE:

Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday on the Edmonds college campus. There are morning courses and afternoon courses.
Morning courses run from 8:30am-11:30am

Full day students will be supervised during lunch from 11:30am-12:30pm

Afternoon courses run from 12:30pm-3:30pm
