Portland Community College’s (PCC) Online Learning Division is looking for an innovative, equity-minded, and detailed-oriented individual experienced in managing instructional design projects and developing online courses for higher education. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of course design projects and all aspects of the course design project plans. This includes analyzing project needs, designing course structure, assigning tasks to project members, communicating with stakeholders, managing timelines, monitoring and ensuring the quality of work, evaluating the success of course design, and implementing any necessary changes to the course. These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.

1. Demonstrated experience using project management tools and methodologies to manage timelines, communication, organization, reporting, and evaluation of instructional design projects.
2. Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing and work effectively with individuals of diverse academic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
3. Demonstrated experience collaboratively leading higher education subject-matter experts and instructional design staff to develop courses and materials for online delivery in a learning management system.
4. Demonstrated application of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), learning theories, and culturally responsive practices to course design and development.
5. Ability to evaluate and create digital course materials for WCAG 2.1 compliance.
6. Experience using quality measures to develop, review, and/or improve course design and materials.
7. Demonstrated ability to create high-quality learning materials and course designs that reflect the above criteria (i.e., portfolio).

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Master’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design/Technology, Multimedia Design, Communications, Computer Science, Management or a related field (relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis).

Two (2) years of full-time professional experience in instructional design managing multiple projects and priorities and assessing and developing training and/or academic courses.

Starting Salary Expectations
Minimum $68,013 to range midpoint of $83,313. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.
