Job description
Bricks 4 Kidz - Polk County, Florida is hiring creative, professional, energetic instructors to bring our great Lego-based STEM programs to kids in Lakeland, Winter Haven and surrounding communities.
We are an innovative educational program teaching children! This is a great position for college students (especially childhood education majors) retired teachers, teachers looking for work in the summer, etc. We bring LEGO® building fun to kids ages 6-12 with a variety of classes, workshops, and camps. Kids learn science and technology concepts with our curriculum and lessons, and they get to explore their creativity with our motorized models and customized building kits.
We are hiring instructors to lead weekly summer camps, spring break camp, and after-school classes during the school year, on-site at our elementary school partner locations. Instructors can choose to work half days, or full days with a paid lunch hour. If you love LEGO® bricks (or not- we provide ALL the training you will need) and you love working with kids, this is the part-time job for you!
Camps are Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm, and run June 12-August 4. All weeks of camp are at Dixieland Elementary School EXCEPT for the week of July 4th and the week of July 31, which will both be at United Women’s Club of Lakeland (there is no camp on the 4th of July.)
Pay for summer camps is as follows:
Full day (9-4 Monday to Friday): $500, $150 bonus for PCS teachers
Morning (9-12 Monday to Friday): $200, $70 bonus for PCS teachers
Afternoon (12-4 Monday to Friday): $200, $70 bonus for PCS teachers
We also travel to other camps to provide field trips throughout Polk County.
***At this time we are only hiring camp counselors who can commit to Monday-Friday weeks. Not necessarily every week, but whichever weeks you may be available for, we would expect you to work Monday-Friday either full day or half day. (Except for the week of 4th of July because there is no camp on July 4th.) This is because camp registration is offered to families on a weekly basis, and we believe it is better for the kids to have consistent staff throughout the week and not different people every day.
