Salary: $20.00 Per Hour

About the Role:


The Residential Coordinator provides essential 24-hour awake coverage and supervision of the shelter. The Residential Coordinator is the lead person on shift acting as the first point of contact for client needs and support. This position is responsible for crisis intervention, facilities management, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the front desk and maintaining a positive living environment within the shelter. The residential coordinator will ensure the safety of shelter residents and the property of Shelter House.


How you will contribute:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for clients by:
    • Maintaining the dignity and confidentiality of all clients during service delivery
    • Complete intakes with new clients - explaining the program, completing paperwork, and ensuring clients understand the expectation of safety in the shelter.
    • Providing an orientation to new clients and answering questions for clients about the facility and available resources and services.
    • Ensuring client’s basic needs are met by distributing toiletries, laundry supplies, and other items to clients as needed and/or requested.?
    • Respectfully and firmly reminding clients of the agreed-on safety guidelines as issues arise and deescalate crisis situations if necessary
  • Monitor and maintain visitor/guest check-in logs and front desk calls and inquiries
  • Update the daily log by documenting all interactions with clients and any other significant events in the shelter, complete other required logs
  • Complete efficient and informative shift exchange with incoming/ outgoing staff and report on the day’s activities in order to maintain consistency throughout the day
  • Notify the supervisor of any critical incidents and complete a Critical Incident Report before the end of shift for supervisor review and submission.
  • Work closely with case managers to support and reinforce the client’s service plan and maintain ongoing communication regarding client progress
  • Complete (and document the results of) unit inspections
  • Facilitate fire drills as scheduled by the Residential Supervisor
  • Assist with client move ins and move outs
  • Maintain a number of certifications to ensure safety in the shelter - CPR, First Aid, and ServSafe (for food handling). Be willing to administer CPR and First Aid and also to assist in preparing and serving food.
  • Accept donations and support volunteer programs and events in the shelter
  • Participate in staff meetings and staff training as directed?
  • Ensure compliance with all agency policies and best practices
  • Serve as emergency personnel and must report to work as scheduled regardless of circumstances (inclement weather, highway congestion, etc.)
  • Safely utilize Shelter House owned vehicles to drive clients to various locations.
  • Proficiently utilize Microsoft products as a part of day-to-day work requirements.

  • Perform other duties deemed necessary to support the program and agency

About You:

Required:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in human services
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with clients and team members
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed

Preferred:

  • A bachelor’s in human services/ related field
  • Experience working in programs serving homeless families
  • Experience working in a residential environment
  • Current CPR/ First aid certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Annual TB Test is required
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds

Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the CDC or qualify for a medical or religious exemption before starting work.
