Full-Time: Monday – Friday (7:30 AM– 3:30 PM)

Hourly Pay: $25/30 hr. Wage is commensurate with experience.

Benefits Package: Health Insurance and two weeks CTO time (80 hrs.).

About Me:

• Hi! My name is Ned, and I’m a 39-year-old highly independent quadriplegic. My interests are varied but I most appreciate good food, stimulating conversation, and being with the people I love. I have a five-year-old golden retriever named Charlie, and she’s the envy of all who come to know her! In the summertime, I spend as much time as I can taking in the outdoors and enjoying the fine weather from my boat on Lake Champlain. Over the winter, you’ll find me inside more than out, but I try to surround myself with engaging activities and good friends. I do my best to balance professionalism and joy in all of life's adventures; I’m looking for a new team member who feels the same way!

Job Description:

• In working with me, your role is primarily a supportive one; I have a spinal cord injury and am immobile from the neck down. I rely on my support to help me navigate through my activities of daily living and other related household tasks.
• On any single day, my morning routine is just that, a routine; but the events and other commitments of that day are diverse! My morning typically begins with an espresso and the New York Times! Working as a therapist, I see clients throughout the day and in between sessions, I will often head into town for groceries, incidentals, coffee with friends or to complete any other necessary errands.
• With intention, this is a very laid-back position that is welcoming, flexible, and intrinsically social! I encourage all of my supports to bring reading materials, a laptop, tablet, or anything that they would like to engage with when we are not actively involved with one another.
• The quality I find most important in any of my support members is an appreciation for direct and open communication. I try to fill my days with meaningful engagement; integral to that is having support with whom I am deeply connected. By the end of any day, I like to feel that our time has been meaningfully spent. You’ll find that this position provides a rewarding working relationship, which we can both look forward to!

Travel Opportunities:

• I typically spend about six weeks per year traveling throughout the US and the world (not consecutively but cumulatively). Throughout this time, I will retain my night support with my primary support working the daytime hours. All expenses are paid through this and the support for these trips will be afforded a rest period before the trip begins and after it ends.

Work Location/Environment:

• I live in a fully secured condominium with on-site parking adjacent to the Burlington waterfront. There is a private room for the support staff to use throughout the day and night, which is equipped with a smart TV, Internet access, and a fully integrated kitchen nearby.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
