Job Description:
This is an advanced Journeyman position which performs locksmithing, key/lock records keeping, key checkout management, door repairs, door hardware installs and repairs, door and frame install and lite carpentry work regardless of the nature or complexity of the work. In addition, performs lead worker duties over assigned carpenter and maintenance worker employees and contractors when directed by the Maintenance Foreman.
Job Duties:
25%- Keeps records of all types of locks, keys and pinning codes, functions as a consultant to management. Inputs and manages key/card information on campus computer key tracking software.
15%- Re-combine lock cylinders and cores of all types, master key to a six level keying system to specified biting requirements, create master level bidding list.
15%- Disassembles, troubleshoots and repairs all types of mortise, cylindrical, dead bolt, padlocks, desk locks, unit locks and miscellaneous auxiliary locks.
15%- Duplicates keys by code, manual duplication and computer code duplication or punch type duplication. Mills key blanks as necessary to match key way specifications.
10%- Installs and maintains electronic lock sets such as stand alone electronic mortise lock sets, electronic combination key pads with electric strikes, electronic magnets and other miscellaneous electronic entry systems.
10%- Preps and mortises doors to properly install mortise, cylindical, dead bolt, unit locks and various auxiliary locks.
5%- Installs and repairs all types of door hardware, panic devises, door closers, kick plates, etc. Performs other duties as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Department including on-call and emergency work when required.
5%- Opens combination and keyed lock sets by means of manipulation and lock picking or by using power tools. Repairs and re-pins combination lock sets. Performs other duties as assigned.

Three years of experience in the locksmithing trade.

Training in the locksmithing trade will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education Level- High School Diploma
Years of Experience- 5 yrs experience or training as a locksmith
Specific Experience- Which includes at least 3 years experience performing journeyman level work and at least one year experience working with electronic locks.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
In accordance with PS-18 this position maybe required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, be capable of stooping, kneeling, or crouching; able to reach, climb stairs, and bend their back.
