Starling Physicians is searching for a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse within our Nephrology/Internal Medicine department.

Candidate must be willing to travel between Hartford and Wethersfield location.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatments, examination and testing of patients.
  • Maintains and observes records and reports of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments.
  • Perform delegated independent nursing functions using divisionally specific established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards (e.g., Administer injections, skin testing, and pulmonary function tests).
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality. Follows all rules regarding “breaking glass” in electronic health record (EHR).
  • Adheres to OSHA regulations.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Relationships (Reports to, Supervises)

  • Reports directly to the Practice Manager.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, physicians, and the public.
  • Maintain a positive work and team environment.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Additional Skills & Requirements)

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse nursing program and have a valid Licensed Practical Nurse license in the state of Connecticut.
  • Strong understanding of transitions of care best practices.
  • Renal/dialysis experience preferred.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to apply quality control standards to patient care.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team and to share responsibilities and duties.
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict in a straightforward and timely manner.
  • Ability to set priorities, be organized and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to be friendly, empathic, clear, and an adept communicator.
  • Ability to treat both staff and patients with respect.

Working Conditions, Physical Requirements

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
  • Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Physical activity will include walking, standing, and sitting.
  • Physical demands may also include lifting and carrying equipment up to 30 lbs, or providing physical assistance to patients.
  • Other physical requirements include speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes; vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.; and good manual dexterity.
  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a physician’s office.
