Maintenance Technician – Food Manufacturing
The Company
Our company is a fully Irish owned, major producer of chilled ready meals. We produce a wide range of different product offerings for the Own-Brand, Irish Retail and Foodservice Industry at our state-of-the-art factory in Lusk, Co. Dublin. Due to continued expansion, we now have a vacancy for a suitably qualified Maintenance Technician to work as an essential part of the Maintenance Team supporting the Operations Manager and the Production function within the business.
The Role
To work as part of the Maintenance Team providing overall general maintenance, including predictive and preventative maintenance, documentation and record keeping inputs to support the operation across its range of Food Production and Packing activities. The Maintenance Technician will have a focus on electrical/electronic and mechanical preventative techniques, fault finding and trouble shooting. This will involve:

- Working effectively to support the Operations Manager as an essential part of the Maintenance Team.
- Working in close collaboration with other members of the Maintenance Team
- Being familiar with all areas of production and general operations activity.
- Familiarisation with all Production Plant & Equipment and associated systems
- Participation in problem solving activities. Electrical and mechanical process trouble shooting.
- Complete electro-mechanical repairs to high speed food processing, handling and packaging equipment.
- Supply technical support for the plant facilities & services including compressed air, steam, refrigeration and effluent plant.
- Preparation and notification of regular maintenance activity reports to the Operations Manager and/or the Senior Management team as required
- Active involvement in the review and development of continuous systems improvement to support the overall quality standards of the Group
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement, operate and be responsible for agreed day to day Maintenance operations within the production activities in accordance with all proper procedures as laid down.
- Participate as part of the “Lean Team” within BMF as required
- Conduct, monitor and report periodic Preventative and Predictive Maintenance checks and outputs to the Operations Manager and/or the Senior Management team as required
- Work with Cook & Chill Production Managers and their staff to ensure that BMF production targets are maintained by ensuring downtime is eliminated where possible or minimised where unavoidable
- Assist with commissioning of new plant and equipment and production of all required backup documentation relevant to such commissioning.
- Be aware of the maintenance budget within BMF and liaise as required with the Operations Manager if overspends are spotted and get sign off accordingly.
- Maintain all appropriate supporting documentation as required by BRC, Tesco, MSVC, Lidl and Aldi and overall quality standards in operation across the Group
- Provide “Standby” cover as required to ensure all rosters are maintained this will involve acting as cover within the group whilst other maintenance engineers are on holiday.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- A relevant engineering qualification or a time served apprenticeship in a high volume, highly automated manufacturing environment – preferably food.
- Proven experience in a high volume, highly automated manufacturing environment
- Specialisation in either electrical/electronic, mechanical or automation & control.
- Strong familiarity with PLCs
- Food safety knowledge will be a big advantage
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools would be an advantage
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Willing to work a 5 day over 7 roster with call-outs as required
- Flexible and Innovative problem solver
DESIRABLE
- 3rd level education or equivalent certificates/work experience
- Food processing knowledge.
- Previous experience of achievement in continuous improvement.
- Flexible
- Own transport – the work location is not commutable using public transport
Contract:
This is a full time permanent position.
Salary: €40k p.a. (negotiable dependent on experience)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: €42,000.00-€48,000.00 per year
