o Education or training in a secondary school in a technical discipline with some work experience in a technical discipline
o Ability to work with basic computer programs (e.g. creating documents in Microsoft Office)
o Basic machining/fabrication knowledge (can fabricate simple fixtures/components)

Duties and Responsibilities:
o Responsible for assisting in concept generation, design, development and evaluation of new products, materials and technologies.
o Develops prototype products, processes and test set-ups
o Sets up and operates manufacturing and/or test equipment. Records data with limited supervision.
o Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
o Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Products engineering document, reports, and drawings (flow charts, block diagrams and schematics).
o Prepares reports and summaries, including quantitative analysis.
o Scope equipment for use and complete qualifications
o Notifies manager upon recognition of factors that may affect project
o Execution of designed test protocol
o Effective documentation and communication of test results

Requirements:
o A combination of education (education or training must include a secondary school and must have been in a technical discipline) and 2 or more years relevant work experience (4 or more preferred).
o Or, minimum of an Associate Degree with less than 2 years relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
o Experience in prototype building and testing.
o Ability to work with basic computer programs
o Ability to manufacture devices including small components
o Ability to understand and perform designed test procedures
o The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group is critical
o Application of technical principles and concepts.
o Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
o Uses standard and approved research and development methods
o Develops solutions to problems of up to moderate scope and complexity, as assigned, through the exercise of judgment within defined practices and policies for determining appropriate actions
o Technical / Vocational Diploma or Certificate

Salary: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
