Leidos Corporate Operational Accounting team has an immediate opening for an experienced and ambitious Manager who would like to join a knowledgeable and innovative team. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Accounting and will be primarily responsible supporting and managing the monthly close process and provide accounting support for various Group and Corporate accounting teams. The successful candidate will lead a geographically disbursed team of professionals primarily in Arizona and Tennessee.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for leading team of accounting professionals, provide training & mentoring opportunities.
• Drive the monthly close process, coordinate and inspire the accounting team and be able to work additional hours during surge periods.
• Proactively monitor general ledger account balances for adherence with company policy and GAAP, including the review and approval of journal entries and account reconciliations
• Identify solutions to problems that typically involve multiple issues, areas or specialties.
• Coordinate with technical accounting, financial reporting, and other functional teams to implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Continuous open communication with teams within and outside of our own organization, which will include executive level leaders.
• Identifying automation opportunities, including Robotics Process Automation and the Continuous Close initiatives.
• Evaluate, develop, and drive impactful process improvements to create efficiencies and ease the team’s level of effort.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of customer service within our teams and among other internal teams we interact with.
• Student of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ability to independently learn through training, reading policies and procedures, and communicating with the Technical Accounting and Government Compliance teams.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of prior relevant accounting experience or Master's degree with 6+ years of prior relevant accounting experience
• Advanced experience in the financial close processes
• Effective leadership and communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills.
• Intermediate skills with technology such as Excel (i.e. Pivot tables and formulas) and understanding of ledger systems.

Desired Qualifications:

• Prior public accounting experience within an audit practice or similar experience with a publicly traded corporation is preferred.
• Prior Government Contracting accounting or finance experience is a plus.
