The Boeing Company is currently seeking multiple Maritime Undersea Mid-Level Software Developer located in Herndon, VA who are highly motivated and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment to design, architect, and implement software for advanced systems in development. Each engineer will be responsible for their portion of the software stack or development lifecycle: UI/UX, embedded, networking, architecture, or test. Position Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional embedded software system
Supports software research and development projects
Assists with documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
Assists with test procedures and documenting test results
Works hands-on with system hardware to develop interfaces and associated documentation
Self-motivated with ability to work in team environment
Design and write clean, extensible and scalable code leveraging industry best practices
Perform code reviews and provide feedback on code quality and best practices
Take responsibility for technical problem solving, creatively meeting product objectives, and developing best practices
Use responsive design to provide an optimal experience across all devices
Create rich, interactive user-experiences with modern technologies with a focus on performance, scalability, security and maintainability
Work in agile team environment to develop, test and deploy software
Use responsive design to provide an optimal experience across all devices
Design and develop highly scalable APIs and services
Work to set up and enhance CI/CD environment
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires an active Top Secret SCI U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
3+ years of experience in C++ for object-oriented programming
Willingness to take a Counter-intelligence (CI) Polygraph Examination
Desired Qualifications (Preferred Skills/Experience):
Experience with Agile software development
Experience with industry standard software development toolsets such as the Atlassian suite, Git, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, etc.
Experience with at least one modern client side JavaScript framework or library (React, Angular, Vue etc)
Experience with microservice architecture and ability to design, develop and implement scalable, elastic microservices
DevOps experience building CI/CD pipelines
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
