1st Shift Material Handler - Shipping
Purpose
Load, unload and move material, fill customer orders within plant, yard, or worksite. Provides materials logistics to assembly lines enabling the production functions to operate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Load, unload, move, stock, pull, and label material
- Prepare materials for shipment
- Count, weigh, and record all transactions
- Perform required computer transactions
- Operate pallet jack, dolly, or forklift as trained and required
- Ability to modify or write procedures and create visual controls
- Be consistently working
OTHER DUITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Experience
6 months related experience or training. Some computer experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to meet/exceed daily rate set out for picking. (35 lines per hour in the G's/19 lines per hour on the Wav or Picker).
- Ability to successfully perform packing process by following procedures set out for said area to ensure proper parts and packaging standards have been met. Ability to meet/exceed daily rate set out for the packing area (35 lines packed per hour).
- Ability to work Overtime and maintains organized work space and follows good housekeeping practices.
- Ability to be a team player and help in other areas of the department as needed
Language Skills
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words in English and recognized similarities and difference between words and between series of number. Ability to print and speak simple sentences
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with arms and hands. Standing for 8 hours and frequent walking required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually high, proper protective equipment is required.

Base Salary
$18.00- $19.00 per hour.
