Day (United States of America) Principal Duties and Responsibilities1.Establishes department goals and objectives. Develops and maintains an organizational structure to support the required functions efficiently. Formulates and implements written policies and procedures to support the department operations.
2.Develops and monitors cost centers operating and capital equipment budgets. Maintains expenses within approved budgets and reports variances to department director.
3.Administers the recruitment and evaluations of employees. Oversees the scheduling assignments and training programs. Determines training requirement and ensures compliance for orientation. Prepares recommendations for promotions or transfer documents for personnel.
4.Managers the Materials Distribution Department in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Department of Public Health, Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation. Ensure compliance with JCAHO and hospital safety standards when applicable.
5.Establishes the quality control and assurance program to monitor the effectiveness of production and services provided by Materials Distribution departments. Assesses the department’s performances and recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continued improvement of efficiency of service.
6.Monitors the computerized inventory system throughout Materials Management. Directs the month-end closing, year-end inventory, and periodic cycle counts. Devises and updates computer procedures and training manuals as required.
7.Coordinates procurement activities for the Materials Distribution department. Manages the hospital inventory system for maximum efficiency. Maintains ongoing supply cost analysis programs.
8.Participates on Product Standards Evaluation committees. Evaluates inventory items for utilization trends and recommends additions, deletions and changes to comparable products for cost savings.
9.onducts departmental staff meeting inservices to keep supervisors and staff informed and trained in new procedures and policies.
10.Manages equipment repair and preventative maintenance programs for equipment used in Materials Distribution and Receiving. Expedites repairs and replacement equipment in a timely fashion. Documents and maintains records indicating proper usage and equipment performance.
11.Supports and participates in the hospital’s commitment to Continuous Improvement process. Through the development and use of objective data, plans, implements, and evaluates processes that result in the delivery of integrated services.
12.Performs all other duties as assigned.

Understands that looking up patient information not needed for job duties is prohibited and is grounds for immediate dismissal.

4.Works effectively with members of the team so that they meet constantly changing needs and deliver care that is customer oriented and cost effective.
5.Demonstrates initiative and creativity to continuously improve services, departmental and interdepartmental processes, and any other activities that affect quality.
6.Plans, organizes, and renders care for (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) patients within an assigned area.
7.Performs work responsibilities while staying in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Understands and agrees to uphold the Hospital Compliance Plan.
