Job description
JOB SUMMARY: Provides health care services applying the use of radionuclides to assist in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease processes. Performs all nuclear medicine procedures requested by a licensed practitioner. Must possess a thorough understanding of radiation safety, quality control and assurance testing and proper preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals. Exercises professional judgement in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Knowledgeable in life span growth and development with the ability to interpret information in identifying age-related requirements and/or specific needs. Adheres to the Journey of Excellence structure adopted by Blue Ridge Healthcare and practices the standards of behavior at all times. Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program
Experience: One year post registration preferred (not required)
License/Registration: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Nuclear Medicine or by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board. Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is also required
Other: Full range of knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals and equipment necessary to perform nuclear medicine procedures, as well as having fully developed clinical skills in performance of nuclear medicine procedures and associated equipment operation.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequently: pulling 80 lbs; sitting; standing; walking; functional vision and hearing. Occasionally requires: waist to eye level lift of 35 lbs (shoulder level); pushing 40 lbs; pulling 45 lbs; work bent over-standing/stooping. The typical working environment involves exposure to ionizing radiation; irregular/extended work hours and accident exposure.
