Job description
We are looking to hire a Memory Care Director for our beautiful location in East Peoria, IL.
The Memory Care Director must plan, organize, develop, and staff all functions of the Memory Care Unit in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Executive Director and Director of Health and Wellness to ensure the highest degree of quality care for our residents. The ideal candidate will have a strong management background as well as experience in the creating the specialized activities and programming our residents with pronounced dementia and cognitive decline require.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Possess a College Degree with course-work in dementia care, plus one (1) year experience working with persons with dementia
OR
At least two (2) years of management experience with persons with dementia.
- Must have experience in supervision and principles, practice of teaching, etc.
- Must be willing to receive Memory Care community training and be open to innovative approaches and then demonstrate these in action as well as ensure team participation.
- Must be able to provide critical thinking skills to address clinical issues.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) years of experience in a home care, assisted living, or Long term care facility.
- Experience as a caregiver of an individual with a memory related disease.
- A thorough knowledge of Alzheimer's and other memory related diseases.
- Experience with positive management techniques for addressing challenging behaviors related to dementia.
- CPR and First Aid
- Any required training by the residence, including Federal and state laws pertaining to assisted living.
