PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Welcome guests, check identification, and assist with the smooth and efficient operation of the front door
  • Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner, and exemplifying MGM SHOW standards
  • Actively market venue; which includes participating in marketing requirements and outings, including but not limited to:
o Assist in developing restaurant database through networking and completing data cards
o Build and establish personal clientele list
o Weekly table reservations
o (3) to (4) organic posts to one of the following social platforms with information provided by the marketing team: Facebook, Instagram, and Instagram Stories
o Sharing of venues Facebook posts onto their own channels for branding and awareness
o Posting and engaging (liking and commenting) with the venue’s social media posts, as well as engaging with review sites, such as Yelp
  • Control the flow of guests coming into the restaurant, bar and lounge
  • Answer telephone and directing calls where necessary.
  • Oversee daily restaurant reservations, pre-assigning seating where necessary.
  • Enforce minimum age requirements and standards of fashionable and acceptable appearance of the guests entering the lounge.
  • Responsible for identifying and directing VIP guests as indicated by management and VIP representatives.
  • Maintain constant awareness of safety and accident prevention and immediately notifies supervisor if an accident does occur. Inform Supervisors of any irregularities existing, guest complaints or other disputes which cannot be readily resolved.
  • Set stanchions appropriately nightly and for special events held within the Lounge.
  • Communicate with appropriate departments/teams regarding VIPs, special orders, cake orders, special requests, large parties, etc. – responsible for conveying all such information to management.
  • Assist food servers, bartenders, cocktails, bussers, and food runners as it relates to guest contact and table information.
  • Perform all opening and closing duties, based upon shift assignment
  • Communicate with management and service team to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests or other employees
  • Participate in modeling, presentations, and promotional events and programs throughout the casino and resort
  • May perform in public relations capacity, representing venue and MGM National Harbor at on- and off-site special events, which may require designer or special wardrobe and multiple costume changes
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested
SUPERVISION:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a hostperson in similar, high-volume bar, nightclub, or fine dining establishment
  • Effectively communicate in English, both oral and written forms
  • At least 21 years old

PREFERRED:
  • Current or previous modeling experience
  • Previous marketing experience
  • Previous experience in a similar resort environment
  • Previous experience using social media platforms, especially with utilization for branding and/or marketing
  • Bilingual, with English as primary or secondary language

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Gaming registration as required by the state of Maryland

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work as a part of a team in a high-stress and high-volume environment
  • Ability to work in and adapt to a dynamic and frequently changing environment
  • Ability to adhere to and execute established department policies and procedures
  • Extensive knowledge of spirits, wine, and food

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Indoor working conditions with hot and cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors
  • Varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Moderate to high noise levels
  • Able to walk or stand on various surfaces for long periods of time
  • Physical ability to access all areas of the restaurant, withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds
