POSITION: Night Supervisor, 11p-7am

DEPARTMENT: Nursing Services

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible in assisting Supervisor Staff in the total management, operation, and supervision in the Nursing Department to ensure a high quality of patient care in compliance with state and federal regulations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Plans effective administration of 11-7.

• Coordinates through DON, Resident Care Coordinator, Supervisor and

Staff nurses all unit and patient care assignments.

• Responsible for knowing fire safety and disaster manual and how to

direct subordinates in prevention drills, emergency and other related situations.

• Responsible for care and use of supplies and equipment.
• Assumes reasonability for staffing on 11-7.

• Assesses and evaluates nursing service needs.

• Assures that transfer instructions are furnished when transferred or

discharged on 11-7.

• Promotes favorable attitudes regarding orientation and inservice education.
• Assures medical orders are properly transferred and implemented.
• Responsible for obtaining physician’s order for nursing procedures requiring orders.
• Assures that all narcotics and controlled drugs are in correct count for 11-7.
• Assures that medications are given as directed, or responsible withheld with appropriate documentation.
• Assures conformity to BRNC policy.

• Assumes responsibly for own professional growth and development through

participation in in-service programs, attending staff meetings, reading professional journals. etc.

• Provides opportunities for staff to solve problems and develop management and

nursing skills under appropriate supervision.

• Recognized individual and group strengths, and utilizes strengths to improve

weaknesses.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing and h olds current license and

registration.

• Ability to manage and supervise a nursing unit. Shows interest and ability

when teaching others and assisting them in their skills.

• Capacity to grasp new theories and principles and put them into effect.
• Ability to make independent decisions.
