Job description
Mazak Corporation is looking for an Assistant General Manager for the Northeast Region. The Assistant General Manager (AGM) helps the general manager to ensure that day-to-day business operations run smoothly. The assistant manager will draw up weekly schedules and assist the general manager with training, recruiting, promotions and planning which may include working directly with Direct Sales, Distribution Management, Service and Replacement Parts Sales and Full Function Accounting. This position report to the General Manager of the Northeast Region located at our Northeast Technology Center located in Windsor Locks, CT.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
- The AGM must be able to competently perform duties in the absence of the General Manager
- Cooperating with the general manager and assisting with anything from project planning to staff management.
- Nurturing positive working relationships with staff and customers
- Delegating daily tasks.
- Addressing any issues in a timely fashion.
- Supervising staff and evaluate associates on their performance annually
- Ensuring company policies and procedures are followed.
- Setting a good example for staff.
- The role requires travel across the US with occasional trips to Japan
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree required in relevant discipline.
- MBA preferred.
- 7+ years of experience with machine processes and machine tools.
- 3+ years of experience in a Sales role, preferably in capital equipment.
- Previous business management experience required.
Skills:
- Confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and clearly communicate objectives.
- Technical knowledge of machining processes and machine tools.
- Must be able to motivate and positively influence staff.
- Great organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Good observation skills
- The ability to deliver and receive constructive criticism
- An ability to identify weaknesses and provide coaching where necessary
- The ability to effectively communicate in writing reports
- Must be proficient in Microsoft D365 and Mazak CRM Platform (will train)
