General Purpose:

The Nursery Lead provides customer-friendly service to our valuable customers and provides the quality products that Adams is known for. This means fulfilling customer requests, keeping all displays stocked and organized, keeping the yard clean, and being the primary line for quality control in the department.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Job Description:

• Ensure that customers receive the best customer service by providing friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service
• Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams
• Be the primary line for quality control: look for packaging issues, and be vigilant about quality and presentation of all products put out for sale
• Keep all areas of the nursery yard clean and organized
• When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over the task at hand
• Make sure displays are kept fully stocked and organized with correct signage
• Sow, thin, weed, transplant, move plants, water, apply fertilizers/ chemicals, pot plants
• If assigned, receive and unload materials from trucks, u-boats and carts and inspect
• Strong plant knowledge
• Ability to diagnose disease and pests and advise remedies
• Buying and ordering merchandise
• Train new associates
• If assigned, supervise employees
• Fix water system
• Maintain equipment
• Answer plant care questions in person and over the phone; help with plant selection
• Load cart and/or vehicle for the customer
• Ability to work effectively and in a cohesive team atmosphere with all areas
• Operate the register
• Drive forklift
• If assigned, holiday wreath making
• Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift 50-80 lbs.
• Must be able to operate forklift if certified
• Must be able to use materials to maintain a clean yard
• Must be able to squat, climb and bend
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
• Must be able to stand for most of the shift
