DEFINITION
Under the supervision of the Client Services Director, the person performing this position is responsible for preparing and serving four meals a week to the tenants of LaGrave on First. This position involves meal planning, grocery shopping, food ordering, food preparation, meal service, dishwashing and additional kitchen cleaning duties. This position is also responsible for being the primary point of contact with weekend meal program volunteers. The Nutrition Program Coordinator must demonstrate customer service skills and maintain positive interactions with all people during the performance of the job responsibilities.
SUPERVISION
The Nutrition Program Coordinator will receive supervision from the GFHA Client Services Director and LaGrave on First Housing Support Specialist Lead.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Plan four meals per week (Monday through Thursday), incorporating donations and existing meal program inventory.
2. Prepare meals and serve dinner four nights per week to the tenants of LaGrave on First.
3. Complete daily dishwashing and kitchen cleaning duties.
4. Shop for groceries and order food in bulk through partner agencies.
5. Communicate frequently with weekend meal program volunteers and act as the primary point of contact between volunteers and the GFHA.
6. Exhibit interpersonal skills with residents and coworkers.
7. Other duties as assigned.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience cooking in an industrial kitchen
Knowledge of and commitment to food safety best practices and procedures
Good verbal and written communication skills
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
This position requires a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation as well as successful completion of all background checks including criminal records.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work environment: full-size industrial kitchen.
Starting wage: $18.50.
Shifts will generally run from 3 to 7pm on weekdays, with additional hours scheduled for menu planning, food ordering, and grocery shopping. This is a part-time position and will be scheduled for 19 hours per week.
