Job Summary:

Chloeta is seeking an OBGYN Inpatient Registered Nurses (RN) for Shiprock, NM. It is a 60-bed medical center and has one of the largest patient volumes within the Navajo Area. The facility provides the following primary and specialty care services in inpatient and outpatient care services: medical-surgical, pediatric inpatient, labor and delivery, intensive care units, internal medicine, family practice, urgent and emergency care, women's health, mental health, pharmacy, optometry, dental, radiology, public health nursing, medical social services, health promotion/disease prevention and traditional medicine. The Emergency Department (ED) provides emergency medical treatment 24 hours a day, seven days a week to patients of all ages. The ED is certified as Peds Ready by the New Mexico Emergency Medical Services for Children and the University of New Mexico Child Ready Program.

We accept any state's license and require the ability to pass a federal background check. Pay varies based on experience and specialty. The time can vary according to the needs of each facility and/or clinic, e.g. 12-hour Tour of Duty, 8-hour Tour of Duty, 10-hour Tour of Duty. Includes weekends and holidays. Start date is contingent upon hiring process timeline.


Job Classification: Full Time Contract

Supervisory Responsibilities: None but may serve as a mentor.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide full range of obstetrical and newborn infant care to patients admitted to Obstetric Care Unit (OCU).
  • Analyze results of various medical procedures and translate them into appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Exercise knowledge of the nursing process and its application to clinical practice to provide individualized, goal-oriented nursing care to the laboring, postpartum, antepartum, and newborn patients.
  • Work effectively and harmoniously within the health care team and patients and their families.
  • Apply knowledge of scientific and psychosocial nursing theory, principles, spiritual, and social-cultural needs of the Native American patients/community.
  • Implement knowledge of biological aspects of disease processes and illness relating to obstetrical and newborn infants and can recognize complications and implement appropriate nursing/therapeutic interventions.
  • Exercise knowledge of the medications and dosages to recognize their desired effects, side-effects, and complications of their use.

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Must have 36 months of nursing experience with a minimum of two years in required specialty.
  • Required: Possess an associate’s (or a higher level of education) in nursing through an accredited program in the U.S.A.
  • Required: Possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract. License verification must be provided at the time of application.
  • Required: Maintain valid and current certifications and provide proof at the time of application in the following:
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Newborn Life Support (NLS)
    • Advanced Trauma Care Nurse (ATCN) or Trauma Nurse Critical Care (TNCC)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
    • Fetal Monitoring Certification (C-EFM)
    • Other certifications as required in this nursing specialty.
  • Required: Possess and maintain a current driver's license in any state.
  • Required: Provide three (3) professional references at the time of application.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.
  • Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time.
  • Able to frequently lift at least 50 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
  • At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.

Pre-employment Requirements:

This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, criminal background check (state and federal), drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, education verification, employment verification, and/or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides and the responsibilities of this position.


Drug and Alcohol Testing:

To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.


Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):

Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.


Emergency Response:

Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
