OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST


WHO WE ARE: EdLogical Group was founded in 2009 by Dianne and Hector Valentin with the primary focus of providing exceptional Special Education Services to students. EdLogical offers top-notch service provision to those students who receive special education services and supports. We have assisted charter schools and school districts in navigating the complexities of Special Education. We have done this by providing high-quality, experienced, and knowledgeable special educators. All EdLogical team members are professional educators or practicing clinicians with a comprehensive understanding of the programmatic, administrative and fiscal issues of program development and service delivery.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provide quality, discipline-specific treatment for children with emotional disturbance, developmental delays, cognitive delays, disabilities, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and other disabilities and health impairments.

SALARY RANGE: $60.00 - $80.00/hr

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, evaluate, assess and report on educational needs of referred students in the areas of perceptual-motor skills, motor coordination, self-care, sensory development, fine motor, muscle strength, range of motion, postural reflexes, and vocational skills.

  • Develops and provides a direct treatment program and/or consultation services for eligible students with disabling conditions, aged birth to 22, aimed at improving identified areas of weakness as they relate to the student’s educational needs and as outline in individual IEPs.

  • Complete annual and triennial reviews of enrolled students as assigned.

  • Provide discipline-specific consultation/coaching to other direct-care staff and care givers.

  • Complete necessary documentation in a timely manner and attend/assist in meetings as requested.

  • Serves as a district-wide resource for occupational therapy related interventions, including assistance to educational staff through consultation, training, and direct individual or group activities.

  • Professionally values and articulates the role of the occupational therapist as a multi-disciplinary team member within the educational setting in the provision of educationally related occupational therapy.

  • Values collaboration with the special education team to develop appropriate assessment plans, Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) or Individualized Educational Plans (IEP), which present the levels, goals, and objectives, and appropriate interventions or services reflecting the needs of the eligible child and team resources.

  • Identifies and employs organizational strategies for scheduling all activities involved in the IFSP/IEP process, including scheduling assessments, direct services, or consultations, monitoring student progress, meeting timelines, and writing reports, etc.

  • Values and demonstrates establishment and maintenance of positive rapport with students, parents, and professional staff.

  • Collaborates with medical personnel in coordination of medical care protocols, and acts as a resource to school personnel in interpreting occupational therapy services and implementing instructional strategies in the classroom.

  • Collaborates with parents regarding plans for occupational therapy services, including home programs for parents to implement.

  • Maintains documentation as required for complying with administrative policies and state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Provides consultation or therapy at school sites as assigned.

  • Provides in-services to multi-disciplinary team members or school personnel (if needed or as assigned).

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree from an accredited school or program. Current Board of Occupational Therapy license issued by the state of California. Current Registration with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

  • One year of experience providing occupational therapy services for children from age 5 to 22, in a school setting working with a multi-disciplinary team, a plus.

  • Knowledgeable in occupational therapy, multi-disciplinary childhood-intervention theories, and rehabilitation principles and practices.

  • Utilizes Sensory Integration and occupational therapy techniques used in the assessment and treatment of children with disabilities.

  • Must be able to work independently with little direction and work confidentially with discretion.

  • Must relate well to children and their families.

  • Requires sensitivity to the unique differences and needs of disabled children and their parents.

  • DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance

  • Pro-Act, CPI and/or CPR certification helpful

  • Working knowledge of standard business practices and procedures

  • Computer-literate; knowledge of standard company software applications, internet

  • Effective interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Problem-solving ability and proven accuracy with detailed information

  • Proficient written and verbal English language communication skills, including business writing and professional telephone manner

  • Reliability, dependability, and flexibility

  • Bilingual a plus
